BEING DIFFERENT HAS NEVER BEEN COOLER
For many of us there’s a comfort to blending in with others, like a safety blanket shielding us from the scary world. For a huge part of my life, and still ongoing, I’ve often felt that; an uncomfortable feeling when all eyes are on you, and a sense of fear and anxiety of what others might think.
But in a world of social media, of competition and freedom to be anything you want to be, it’s important to create a personal brand that stands out from the rest. Like in the words of Dr Seuss “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
Take my blog for example – I constantly try to find my niche in the fashion world. With millions of blogs out there, creating content that is genuine, and original can be difficult. Passion and hard work are key, but standing out from the rest will put you one step further.
It all starts with loving what you wear. There’s a psychological link between how you dress and your mood. It’s not about wearing something outside your comfort zone but wearing something that gives you confidence for the day ahead.
- Plan ahead – Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will “the perfect outfit” the morning of when you’re rushing to get to work on time.
- Dress the Part – I’m sure everyone’s heard the saying “dress for the job you want, not the job you have”
- Money is not key to beauty – The trick is to find the right fit for your body and style (not about the $$$ ): think tailored pieces?
This dress has been on repeat for me since I got it last September. It’s a twist on a classic LBD. The maroon adds elegance and the simplicity keeps it classically chic. Keep is casual with a jean jacket for a spring time layering look or keep it solo and add black heels for a cocktail party.
